Tailoring


Why should you buy custom-tailored clothing?

You’ll want to have yourself dressed in custom-tailored clothing because you’ll have a guaranteed perfect fit to your unique body type and shape, 100% choice in customisation, and a quality that is next to none and can’t be matched with clothing that you’ll buy in a retail store.

Monograms, pocket style, number of pockets, lapel type and size, pattern, material weight and color – all these choices are in your hand with custom-tailored clothing from Louis Collections.

How do I get started?

In order to start using our custom-tailoring services, your beginning depends on whether you’ll be in Patong during the time of order, or if you are ordering your tailored garments from us online. If you happen to be in Patong, please visit us at our store, so we can guide you through in terms of choice of materials, style and measurements. If you are placing orders online, please do the following:

1. Choose your preferred style: Whether that is from our website, or a style image you find online, or a picture of a suit you like (i.e. from a colleague, a wedding you were attending to, etc.)

2. Choose your design: When you have chosen the desired style, the next step will be to determine what details you want to have implemented in your tailored garment. For suits, this could be the number and style of pockets, lapel size and style, boutonniere, satin finishing, plackets, pleads, etc. For dresses, this could be pockets, length, contrast sleeves, etc.

3. Your measurements: Whether you are getting measured by a friend or family member, it is actually much easier to take measurements than you may think. You can even do it yourself. All it takes is the right tutorials and guides. Please find our measurement section to get started taking your measurements for your order. If you are not sure about how to take the measurements, please contact us, so we can guide you through the process via Skype, WhatsApp or FaceTime. If you prefer us to take your measurements, we can come to visit you in your home or office, provided that there are enough interested individuals, who wants to get measured for their tailored garments from Louise Collections.

Where do I get more information about available styles and designs?

If you follow our blog section or Social media pages, we do our best to give constant style advice, available designs and trends according to the latest fashion. If you should have a question about an event you’re planning to attend to, or a style you’ve seen, a topic you’d like to have covered, please get in touch with us, so we can guide you on your specific question or topic. We will then also do our best to cover it in our blog section and via Social media.

What is the production time?

Once provided with your measurements and style preferences, we need about 5-6 business days to craft your tailored suit. For crafting a shirt, depending on the ordered amount, it takes between 2-3 business days. This timing may vary depending on our peak times (between October and March). For express orders we can ship your clothes within 1-2 days of your order. This will however require higher shipping fees. How are your suits constructed?

All our suits are half-canvassed, ensuring a good and full look and fall of the suits.

Do you offer standard sizes?

Louis Collections does not have any garments in stock; all our products are handmade based on the specific measurements of each customer.

What is the price for one of individually tailored shirts?

Our shirts start from USD 50 per shirt, but it really depends on the fabrics you’re choosing. Generally shirts range from USD 50 – 100.

What is the price for one individually tailored suits?

Our suits start from USD 280 per suit, but it really depends on the fabrics you’re choosing. Generally suits range from USD 280 – 400.

What is the price for one individually tailored dresses?

Our dresses start from USD 150 per dress, but it really depends on the fabrics you’re choosing. Generally dresses range from USD 150 – 220.

Is there any extra charge for monograms?

No, every additional design option is included in the price. All style, also including your monogram, is complimentary.

Is there an extra fee for XXL?

No, the price is the same, no matter your height or weight.

How can you offer such affordable prices for order made garments?

We are able to offer such prices because we use our own factory and we have the right infrastructure in place to support tailor-made garments, cutting the middlemen wherever possible, so we can keep every process in-house. Our aim is to put our product out there for everyone to experience the exclusivity of ordering tailor-made garments at a reasonable price. We have a narrow and reasonable profit margin as we enjoy the satisfaction our customers get from experiencing our top quality and high class shirts.

Which payment methods do you use?

For online orders, we accept Paypal. For in-store orders, or orders during Trunk shows, we accept credit cards, cash in Thai Baht, Euros, GBP, USD, Canadian-, Singaporean- or Australian Dollars. We also require a non-refundable 50% deposit in order to begin making your garment. The nature of our bespoke business is such that each garment is cut specifically for each client and cannot be reused for anything else.

What are your operating hours and location?

We are open Monday to Saturday from 11:00 AM to 23:00 PM. On Sundays we are open between 17:00 and 23:00 PM.

Will my schedule allow me to get a suit made?

Most of our clients travel around Thailand, traveling through Patong and Phuket as a whole. We will make appointments that fit around your schedule. You will require a total of 2 full working days in Patong. An ideal schedule would look like this: You would come in on Monday and choose your fabrics, your options, and we would take your measurements. Then we need about 12-24 hours to work on the garments and get them ready for a first fitting. The first fitting would be the next night, Tuesday evening. We would then need another 12-24 hours to work on the garments again. Your second fitting would be Wednesday evening. Ideally, we would do 1 more fitting on Thursday, as this is the best option to ensure a great fit. Otherwise, if you did not have any more time, we could work on the garments and ship them to you once completed.

Do you make dresses?

Yes, we craft all tailored garments for both Men and Women. Among that, we also custom-tailor dresses, skirts and blouses.

How long does a fitting take?

The initial visit will require the most time. Depending on how decisive you are with choosing fabrics, styles and options it can take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour and a half. An average initial visit takes about 45 minutes. Fittings usually take much less time as it is just yourself and your tailor discussing the fit of the garment and making any alterations. This usually takes about 20 minutes.

Do you keep my measurements on file?

After your final fitting we take final sizes from your garments and store them, along with your paper pattern, for any future orders. So long as your sizes don’t change you are free to order anything and we will post the garments to you.

Do you offer discounts?

We do. If you take a look at our special promotions page, or follow our Social media pages frequently, you will often find discounts, promotions, give away’s and other exciting ways to save money.

What are the shipping costs for online orders?

Shipping costs depend on what you purchase (weight) and where we are shipping to.

How long does it take to receive my custom-tailored garments?

Once your order has been finalised (payment made, all options selected) we do our best to ship within 1-2 weeks. From this point, shipping typically takes between 7-14 business days (expect expedite orders).

Who do you use for international shipping?

We use EMS and DHL for all international shipping. We will provide you with a tracking number and a link to track the items.

Fabrics


What materials are your suits made from?

All of our suits are crafted from a wool-blend, making the suit fit for wear all year round. Our wool are stringently tested for quality and wear to ensure they offer exceptional feel and performance.

Monograms, pocket style, number of pockets, lapel type and size, pattern, material weight and color – all these choices are in your hand with custom-tailored clothing from Loius Collections.

Where can I learn more about your materials?

We gladly provide you with a link to all the fabrics we have in stock and will also carry a range of all available materials with us during Trunk Shows.

What is ply and thread count?

Ply indicates the thickness of a thread with which the fabric is woven. It is the number of yarns twisted together to make a single thread. 2 ply means 2 fabric threads twisted together to form a single thread to be woven to a fabric.

Thread count refers to the number of fabric threads woven together per square inch of fabric.

Fabrics with high thread count and ply are more expensive to produce. This is your choice of fabric if you prefer your shirts silky, soft and thin. However, thread count is only one factor. The weave of the fabric, the ply and the mill where the fabric was made are also important factors to consider.

What's the difference between "Easy Care" and “Non-iron"?

Easy Care fabrics require minimal ironing and have better drying and crease recovery properties, whilst Non-iron fabrics use Liquid Ammonia + moist cure finishing treatment.

Non-iron fabrics are better and more resistant to wrinkles than the Easy Care fabrics.

What kind of fabrics do you use for shirts and suits?

We believe in using the best always, so we use only 100% pure cotton-blend, (for easy iron) in our shirts, and wool, cashmere, linen, wool-blend fabrics for our suits.
Our price is unbeatable when compared to other vendors in the online market, who use the same kind of fabric. This is guaranteed!

Measurements


How do I get my exact measurements?

You can easily take your exact measurements within 10 minutes. Please follow our guides strictly and you’ll be ensured a perfect fit.

Alternatively, you can send us garments to copy.

 

Shipping instructions:

  1. Send your shirt using First Class Mail (International post) through your local post office. This is the cheapest way to send packages to us.
  2. Include in the package a detailed note with instructions and details about the shipment (e.g.Order #, Fullname, Louise Collections, any changes or adjustments you want to apply on your new shirt, styles, etc.)
  3. There is no need to purchase packaging or a large envelope for the shipment. Fold the shirt neatly and place it inside a regular envelope.
  4. Please mark the order as USED CLOTHING and do not declare any value on the airway bill so you can avoid paying additional or unnecessary customs taxes.

What are the measurement allowances on the finished product?

Our tolerance of production (cutting commitment) is based on international standards.
Collar and cuffs   (+/-) 0.6 cm total circumference

Bicep   (+/-) 2.0 cm Total circumference
Shoulder length   (+/-) 1 cm total length
Chest size   (+/-) 2.0cm Total circumference
Waist size   (+/-) 2.0 cm Total circumference
Hip size   (+/-) 2.0 cm Total circumference

These allowances generally apply to all garment types: shirts, suits, jackets, pants for men and women. Unless specified, the standard allowance is   (+/-) 2.0 cm Total circumference.

What is the normal weight of your suit fabrics?

Our suit fabrics weigh around 280gr/mt to 300gr/mt.

Do I have to worry about shrinkage?

No. Majority of our fabrics are pre-shrunk, compliant with ITF standards that require cotton fabrics to shrink less than 2%. Any other residual shrinkage is considered in the shirt construction process. Some fabrics on our range eg linen and selected 100% cotton have shrinkage of 3-5%.

Delivery and Shipping


Which countries do you ship to?

We ship globally to all countries.
All orders are shipped via express air with the leading companies: DHL and FedEx.
The delivery to PO boxes, military addresses, APO/DPO is not possible.

Do you have photos of the shirts or orders made before shipment?

We take photos for majority of the finished products unless the customer specifies that he doesn’t want his shirt photographed. To check out the designs of our customers, click here.

How much is your shipping fee?

The shipping depends on type of garment, weight, destination and method of shipment.
We recommend DHL as the most cost-effective, fastest and reliable mode of shipping.

How can I track the package?

Can I change my shipping address after submitting the order?

Yes as long as the order has not yet been shipped.

You would need to receive confirmation from us that we have received your request for address change.

Are customs and import duties included in the prices?

No, the customer will be responsible for any import duties and import taxes that may be applicable. We have no control over these charges, nor can we predict what they may be. Customs policies vary widely from country to country; you should contact your local customs office for more information. There is an exemption quota in most countries that allows some merchandise, depending on the value of the package, to be received free from taxes and duties. The exemption quota varies for each country. For countries like United States, Australia, New Zealand, France, and UK, packages are received free of taxes and duties when the value does not exceed USD 200. For other countries, please check with your local customs office. Our prices are exclusive of any taxes and duties.

What happens if I’m not present to receive my package?

If you aren’t home and miss delivery of your package, please get in touch with your local post office at your earliest convenience to arrange delivery at a later date. It is best to do this quickly as the postal service will send the package back to us if it is unclaimed and there will be additional fees for reshipping the package out to you.

Where are your custom-made garments produced?

All of our shirts and suits are made in Thailand at our internal tailoring facilities. Unlike most online custom apparel companies, we actually control our own facility; we are the manufacturers and take care of your order from initial order placement, fabric stock, cutting, manufacturing, QC, dispatch and customer support. This allows us to create better quality garments. This also provides pricing power far beyond traditional retailers and online ‘resellers’ and ensures that we strictly adhere to workplace conditions, staff wage minimums and best environmental practices.

Where do the fabrics come from?

We are currently buying fabrics from leading suppliers in Italy, UK and China. We also Egyptian- and Japanese cotton. All of our suppliers have agreed and signed our Code of Conduct.

Claims and Returns


What is your Returns Policy?

If you are not satisfied with your custom-tailored garments from Louis Collections, due to reasons like fit, quality, fabric issue, etc, please contact us at sales@louiscollectionsbangkok.com We will evaluate the issue on a case per case basis.

The general principles are:

1. If we were not able to follow the clothing measurements you entered, with consideration of our cutting commitment and allowances published on our website, we will remake your order.
We highly suggest providing clothing measurements (pants, shirts, suit jackets) as the allowances our tailors are are minimal and within industry standards.
If clothing measurements are unavailable, customers may opt to use body measurements. Our tailors add specific allowances (for comfort and movement) to garments made from body measurements. Due to these additional allowances, the customer may incur local alteration fees on their end to achieve a better fit (depending on their preferences).

2. If the package has been damaged during shipment, we will request for a photograph of it. We will replace the order as long as it has not been tampered (washed, cleaned, etc) and reported within 1 week upon receipt of the item.

I just unpacked my garment and it has some stains on it. What do I do?

It can happen that there are remains of tailor’s chalk left on the garment and in some cases patterns from the ironing process. Please wash the garment once according to the washing instructions inside without using any extra treatment or bleach. Should there still be a stain afterwards, please send us a picture of it to our customer service so we can investigate this further.

I ordered a garment and it does not fit. What should I do?

As for all garments that can be washed according to the care instructions inside the garment, please wash it first. We add a certain amount of fabric during production to adjust for the shrinkage that occurs during the first few washes. If you have ordered for the first time or with new or changed measurements, please send us some pictures of you wearing the garment (rear and front). Stand upright and relaxed with both your arms hanging loosely from the sides.

I would like to make a return. What do I do?

Since all our tailored garments are made to order from your design and your measurements (even those that are design suggestions) these cannot be sold to anyone else and cannot be returned. If it is your first order you can use our fit guarantee. Please send a couple of pictures of yourself wearing the garment (front and back) to our customer services department. Stand straight with your arms relaxed and include a message describing your problem.
Knit sweaters, t-shirts and accessories such as ties, bow ties, handkerchiefs, belts, socks and cuff links can be returned or exchanged within 14 days.

Send the unused items in their original packaging to:

You are responsible for the returned goods until it reaches us. Order number or customer number must be clearly included in the return. Please also advise if you wish to have a refund or to exchange the merchandise for something else.

If there are any issues with your online order, don’t worry we’ll work it out!

What is your product complaints policy?

For workmanship-related complaints, please contact us via email within 2 weeks after delivery of the goods. Complaints made after this period will not be entertained.

THE PROCESS:

  2. The staff at Louis Collections reviews the following:

Photos, Profile and original order details submitted, Quality paper/production paper, Additional notes/requests, Email correspondences concerning the order

Product Care


How do I care for shirt and suit fabrics?

General product care tips about shirts are:
– Remove collar stays, button up, and wash inside out
– Cold wash (30°C)
– Hang dry
– Do not tumble dry
– For easier ironing, iron while damp

General product care tips about jackets are:
Jackets made from natural materials help the body ventilate and don’t need cleaning very often.

To extend the life of your jacket:
– Dry clean only
– Clean no more than four times per year
– If creased, press professionally, do not steam
– Spot clean with water and mild detergent
– The natural fibers of your suit need time to rest
– Avoid wearing more than two or three times per week
– After wearing, hang up in a ventilated space to ensure freshness and reduce wrinkling

General product care tips about trousers are:

Wool is antimicrobial and naturally stays fresh. We recommend:

– Dry clean only
– Clean once per month if worn frequently
– After wearing, hang up in a ventilated space to ensure freshness and reduce wrinkling
– For your favourite suits, we recommend buying a second pair of trousers, as they typically get more wear than jackets

General product care tips about cotton & linen trousers are:

Wash with care to avoid shrinkage and wear. We recommend:

– Cold wash (30°C)
– Hang dry
– Do not tumble dry
– When ironing, use a thin cloth between the iron and garment

Trunk Show Orders


What is the Procedure?

When you come to your appointment you will be shown through our fabric ranges and guided through the design options by our experienced tailors.

We take your exact measurements. Previous clients will have a chance to update their sizing and new customers will have a new unique pattern created for them.

Please bring your current best fitting garments (don’t wear them), so we can get a size reference – this is essential for a good fit.

We will take payment by card, online or by cash.

The session takes about 1.5 hrs

Our tailors will get to work immediately and we will deliver your tailor made clothes within 3-4 weeks maximum but tend to be faster than that.

Your measurements and designs are saved to your account, so with just a few clicks you’ll be able to order perfectly fitted clothes whenever you want.

Please note that there is a minimum order of 3 shirts, unless you buy a suit.

Please bring both a shirt and suit should you wish to get measured for both (even if you don’t plan to buy them now). They don’t have to be perfect as we’ll work with you to improve the fit. We will use these to get a more precise reference than pure body measurements, which based on our experience, will allow us to tailor great fitting garments without any follow-up fittings.

How long does an appointment take?

Each appointment takes approximately 1,5 hours.

What payment methods do you accept?

At the trunk show we accept payment via Visa and MasterCard, in cash or via Paypal.

Do you have a minimum order requirement?

Yes, we ask that clients order a minimum of 3 shirts if no suit or pants are purchased. If a suit is purchased or pants or a waistcoat then there is no shirt minimum.

Are custom and import duties included in the price?

No, the customer will be responsible for any import duties and import taxes that may be applicable. This is unfortunately out of our control.

What is your alterations policy?

Since fittings are not available during the trunk shows, we base sizing on a current garment the client owns and make adjustments to that as needed. In essence that means that the suit or shirt the client brings in functions as a fitting stage garment, allowing us to make tweaks from a good starting point. This, in our experience, allows us to achieve a great fit without fittings. We have a very high success rate and in the unlikely case that there are any issues, we typically offer a credit for local alterations for minor tweaks or in extreme cases remake the entire garment, in order to make sure that every client is happy.

Note: We have a 1-2 cm allowance for body and sleeve width (including back width, front width and shoulder width, a 1cm allowance for sleeve length and a 0.5cm allowance for collars and cuffs.

Our garments are hand-cut and sewn and no two garments will be exactly the same. This is part of the charm and unique nature of Bespoke clothing.

Gift Certificates


What is the fastest way to order a gift certificate?

We offer you the option for a downloadable gift certificate if the amount for the order is paid at the same time when the order is placed. Just choose Download as the delivery method and the gift certificate will be available as a pdf-file after the order has been placed. We also automatically send you an email containing the file to the email address stated in your profile. If you order a present for somebody living in another country, please keep in mind to change to that country in order to get the correct currency on the gift certificate.

Referrals:

I had sent you a referral, however, I still had not received the referral voucher. top There is a 14-day review period for all referrals. All referrals are validated by our system before the referral voucher is sent to the affiliate/referrer’s email address. Here are the conditions:

  1. Sale has been made using the referral link.
  2. The profiles of the referral and affiliate should not be the same.
  3. The affiliate should have bought at least one of our products before the referral sale has been made.
  4. The affiliate and referrals shipping addresses should not be identical.
  5. The IP address upon order should not be the same.

It is important that all of these are met to receive the referral voucher.
